The problem is that there's no universal "internet speed" or performance that you get - there is speed/performance from point A to point B. The thing is that you usually need to have access to both sides of a connection to get a reliable reading. It's more reliable than any website because you see the raw data before your eyes and there's no vendor that has an incentive to control what you see. You transfer a file from one point to another and it measures how fast it was. It's a free tool used by actual telecoms and networking professionals to measure speed.
